E&I International selected for the new IDECO SCADA control centre establishment in Jordan

On November 16th, 2016, the Jordan Irbid District Electricity Company LTD (IDECO) on the government’s mission selected E&I International for a turn-key delivery of the new “IDECO SCADA Centre Establishment” to monitor and control the electricity distribution network up to 33kV level, mainly in the northern region of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The scope of supply includes delivery of SCADA (Main & Backup) Control Centres and a communication network for the SCADA systems. E&I International (the main supplier to Eitech International AB, the EPC Contractor) is responsible for project management, engineering, material delivery, installation and commissioning of adaption work in 7 substations and more than 600 mini remote terminal units (RTU), in addition to integration of all existing motorized switches and auto-reclosers in the network to provide a fully functional SCADA/DMS system. The project is scheduled for completion in 18 months, i.e. during the second quarter of 2018.

The “SCADA National Centre Establishment Project” is part of an extensive modernization program on the government’s mission to improve grid reliability and efficiency. By implementing a SCADA/DMS system it will benefit to the Jordan society. There will be less power outages that influence the consumers and industries. By use of remote control of the electricity power grid it will offer the possibility to restore and manage the electricity grid much faster. The system will also enable remote monitoring and control of the substations bringing efficiency and cost savings to the customers.

“The SCADA/DMS system will help improve reliability of power supplies and grid stability in the distribution network of IDECO. This project will enable efficient management and administration of a large number of electrical assets, which is the key to controlling maintenance costs, improving functionality and providing a better service to consumers,” says Eng.
